About Us
The Criminal Investigation Division consists of eight investigators, with three being assigned to Narcotics
full time. Investigators are on call 24 hours a day, 7 day a week.
Responsibilities of the detectives include, but are not limited to: Follow-up investigations regarding calls
for service from the public, securing crime scenes, collecting evidence, interviewing suspects and witnesses, preparing the
case for court, and testifying in trials.
Detectives are responsible for investigating a wide array of crimes, including, but not limited to:
misdemeanors, felonies, forgeries, narcotics, burglaries, thefts, identity thefts, assaults, child abuse, homicides, etc. They
work closely with road patrol officers, evidence and property room, crime lab personnel, the parish coroner, District
Attorney, Office of Community Services, Child Protection Office and other local, state and federal agencies.
This division works diligently to help citizens recover stolen property and to bring to justice those persons
responsible for committing crimes.
