The following brave souls gave their lives protecting the citizens of DeSoto Parish.

• Trooper James T. Brownfield—LA State Police...Died in the Line of Duty on May 9th, 1943.
• Deputy James W. Gamble—DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office...Died in the Line of Duty on May 16th, 1954.
• Asst. Chief Charles Down—Logansport Police Department & DeSoto Area Narcotics Task Force...Died in the Line of Duty on December 3rd, 1989.
• Jerry W. Moberly—Probation and Parole Officer...Died in the Line of Duty on October 23rd, 1990.
• Anthony V. Calhoun—DeSoto Fire District 8...Died in the Line of Duty on October 12th, 1992.
• Shane Scott Brown—DeSoto Fire District 8...Died in the Line of Duty on December 24th, 2003.
