Dispatchers are responsible for taking calls and relaying all necessary information to a
Patrol Deputy in order for them to respond to a call.
They are also responsible for tracking the location of each Patrol Deputy on
the shift; this is for the protection of each deputy, and assure that backup units can be dispatched as quickly as
possible.
The DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office currently has six full time dispatchers. Four are assigned to the central
dispatch location in Mansfield, and one is assigned to the Logansport
Sub-Station. There is one relief dispatcher that works as needed. There is one supervisor over all dispatchers. All major
calls are dispatched through central communications. The shifts are twelve hours and run from 6AM to 6PM.
